What a year 2023 was for Gaia Massage! I am so proud of the growth last year brought for myself as a massage therapist and business owner, and for my practice! I'm so grateful for each of the amazing clients who put their trust in me last year, you all inspire me to continue striving to provide the highest standard of care possible to you and Louisville's families!

Here are the top 6 moments we are celebrating from 2023:

1 Served 126 wonderful clients.

Most of you were seeking support for Prenatal Massage, & Postpartum Massage. Thank you for putting you trust in me to help you achieve your goals, and have a pregnancy with less pain, and a supported postpartum recovery.

2 Taught my first Infant Massage Classes Workshop.

I am filled with gratitude for the first families who signed up for my first 5 week Infant Massage Class Workshop. It was an honor to learn from and alongside you!

3 Completed 28 Continuing Education hours.

I am passionate about educating myself, even beyond what is required to maintain my license to practice massage therapy. This year, as part of my commitment to bring you the highest standard of care, I took courses in Grief Massage, Holding Space for Pregnancy Loss, Bodywork for Better Breastfeeding (for Infants), & Educator of Infant Massage.

4 Earned Certification in Prenatal and Postpartum Massage.

After taking the intensive continuing education in Prenatal and Postpartum Massage, I worked for over a year to hone my hands on skills before I took the exam and submitted a video of said Prenatal Massage skills for evaluation. In September, I earned the credential of being a Certified Prenatal & Postpartum Massage Therapist.

From top to bottom titles are: What God Is Honored Here?, Holding Space, Supporting Queer Birth, Ina May's Guide to Childbirth, Expecting Better, and Pre- and Perinatal Massage Therapy. An anatomical diagram of the muscular system can be seen on the wall behind her.

5 Made connections and developed a robust referral network.

In 2023, I worked hard to make connections with other professionals in the Louisville, Southern Indiana, and Lexington areas who are also serving women and pregnant/postpartum people. I branched out of my comfort zone to talk to them about my training, and the folks I help in my practice, and learned about the practices of fellow birthworkers, midwives, doulas, newborn care specialists, lactation consultants, pelvic health physical therapists, mental health professionals, chiropractors, and more! I love having a robust referral network to send my clients for high level care that falls outside my expertise and/or scope of practice, and I am filled with gratitude for the trust other practitioners have in me when they send their clients my way for care.

6 Celebrated my first business anniversary!

In November, Gaia Massage celebrated being in business for 1 year! I have loved building this practice from the ground up, to serve the women, families, and pregnant and postpartum people of Louisville. Creating this practice has been a dream come true, and I'm looking forward to what our 2nd anniversary will bring!

Reflecting on 2023 with pride and gratitude, and planning 2024 with excitement and intention! Thank you for reading!
